Fine Arts Programs
Our Fine Arts program is truly outstanding. Arts instruction begins in
kindergarten and continues through high school. The band and choir
programs are large and competitive. We successfully participate in
District and State Choral Festivals, Marching Band, Concert Band, and
Solo & Ensemble Festivals. Our band and choirs not only compete, but
also perform for the community and travel to places such as Toronto, New
York, Washington D.C. and
Florida. Our high school drama program
performs three times each year: one musical, one play, and they
participate in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association
competition for Drama Clubs and have been highly successful competing
against schools much larger than ours. In fact, we were the State
Champions in Competitive Drama for Classes C-D in 2003, 2005, and 2006.
Our Visual Arts program is
comprehensive and includes Ceramics and
Sculpture. It is rare to find a school, much less a small school, with
high-quality programs in four major areas of the fine arts.
Our auditorium, which seats approximately 560 people, was dedicated in
March 2005, and gives our students the opportunity to perform in an
outstanding facility. We are particularly proud of the well roundedness
of our students. Many of them participate in athletics, the arts, and
maintain a
rigorous academic schedule. This broadly based education
will serve them well into adulthood. Though it is common for schools to
make kids make choices between the arts and athletics, we strive to help
our students become well-rounded responsible citizens because these
programs are so valuable to the development of young people. This is
yet another example of what we call, "The Olivet Way".
