Michigan Farm to School Program |

Karla Love, Olivet Food Service Supervisor has made it her mission to provide healthier meals to the students at Olivet Community Schools long before state requirement changes and the popularity of the national movement to promote healthier eating and healthier lifestyles. After Karla attended a Local Food Bank Conference and met Duane Morelan, owner of Veges from the Ledges in Grand Ledge, MI, Karla has been purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables for school breakfast and lunches to serve to our students.Thank you Karla and the Food Service staff for your pro-active support and making school meals nutritious, healthy and interesting for students to enjoy.Below are a few links that you might be interested in too. Thanks to Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems (formerly the CS Mott Group for Sustainable Food Systems) for promoting Michigan Farm to School purchasing and to Duane Morelan for providing such quality food products to our schools. Maybe your school or organization can benefit too. Check it out! |
