Transition Plan for 2011-12

BethAs you probably already know, the Livingston ESA Board recently hired Dave as their next Superintendent.  He officially starts there on September 1st.  The Campbell family will continue to live here in Olivet until Laura graduates next year.
In order to determine a succession plan, the board met with the Director of Superintendent Search for the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) on July 18th to learn more about the search process and options for Dave’s replacement here in Olivet.  The board was informed that, at this point, they have three options to consider:  1.  post the position and search for a new superintendent. 2.  select and hire an external interim superintendent, or 3.  identify and select an internal interim candidate.  (Read full article)

New Leadership at Fern Persons Elementary

We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Sarah Scott, principal at Fern Persons Elementary for the service she has dedicated to our district the past three years.  She has decided to move on to be a principal for Battle Creek Public Schools.   Sarah made many contributions to the elementary school.  To name a few, she has been a tremendous advocate for health and wellness awareness in our community and she has truly been an instructional leader for her staff, always willing to challenge them to raise the bar. I am eagerly looking forward to meeting the community members of Olivet, especially the students, staff, and parents of Olivet Middle School.  Olivet is a natural fit for me because of its hometown values, friendliness, and commitment to children.  Prior to my first interview, I drove through town and the countryside.  I was fascinated with the healthy crops, orderly farms, well kept roadsides, and interconnected neighborhoods of town and Olivet College campus.  I was so pleased with the number of cheerful people who waved at me as I drove around and those who spoke with me as I milled about town.  The first impression I formed was that of a family-oriented community that has provided the means for the educators to succeed.
