School Bus Tips for Students

Be Safe

  • Never try to retrieve anything from under or around the bus

  • Keep everything inside the bus

  • Stay seated with your feet on the floor

  • Keep hands and feet to self

  • Keep aisle clear

  • Leave all belongings in your backpack

  • No eating or drinking on the bus

Be Responsible

  • Be on time to the bus stop

  • Go directly to your seat

  • Follow all the bus rules

Be Respectful

  • Be a good role model

  • Use kind words

  • Talk quietly

  • Treat others the way you want to be treated

  • Listen and obey the bus driver

Update 8/2/2021

Important Bus Information

Due to continued safety precautions, Building Secretaries will not be issuing Bus Passes for students to ride with friends. This means a student may only ride his or her regular assigned bus route.

School Delay/Closing

In case of extreme weather conditions when regular education buses are not traveling the roads, buses to the Math & Science Center and Calhoun Area Career Center will also not be running. When there is a 2-hour delay called, the morning Math & Science Center bus will not transport students to or from the Center.

Not Riding

If your child will not be riding in the morning, a phone call to the transportation office is very much appreciated. This prevents us from sending a bus to a stop when it is not necessary. When students do not ride for 3 consecutive days without notification to the Transportation Office they will be removed from the route.

Elementary Students

Elementary students (K-5th) will be returned to the Fern Persons Elementary (FPE) Child Care if there is not a parent/guardian present to receive the student at his/her bus stop. Parents will be required to pick up their student there and are responsible for the Child Care fees. If you plan to have an older sibling or other adult meet your child at the stop we will need written permission to release your student to them.
